Creativity AI #2: Your weekly dose of AI creativity and productivity
Midjourney has returned to work, Runway's 3-frame feature, Perplexity's downloadable table, and more!
Creativity AI is a new publication that brings together interesting articles and recent developments in the AI world related to creativity and productivity.
Midjourney
The Midjourney team is back at work, focusing on V7 development and other projects.
The V7 model is currently in the internal testing and bug-fixing phase, which means it will take several weeks before it is ready for release.
Temporary fast /relax mode remains active, and users are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to generate images for free until the extra servers are reassigned to V7 and video.
The mood board and Full editor will be improved in the future, such as adding Sref and Cref to the mood board.
Runway
Runway has quietly rolled out the three-frames feature, which allows users to create a video from three images.
Previously, there were just two frames.
Here's an example of my creation with the new three-frames feature:
This is the prompt for creating the Midjourney images.
Cinematic photography of a young Japanese boy in his mid-10s, with spiky purple hair and brown eyes, dressed as an urban fantasy superhero throwing a steel plate at the camera. He is wearing dark gray jeans, a gold jacket, and a yellow hooded sweatshirt underneath, with white gloves on his hands. The action takes place outdoors during the night time, with sparks flying from the impact, creating dynamic light effects. In the background, there's a Tokyo street at midnight, in the style of Michael Bay. --ar 16:9 --v 6.1
I place the images in their respective frames.
Guess what Runway prompt I used? Nothing. No prompt. Just three Midjourney images.
I increased the animation speed in post-production and converted it to a GIF.
Amazing result.
Why does this matter?
The three-frame feature allows users to fine-tune the animation, resulting in more interesting effects.
Mastering the Midjourney techniques for character consistency, variations, editing, Vary (region), and outpainting will help you create a series of images to fill the three frames for animation.
Perplexity
Perplexity users can now download the table they created in the Answer as a CSV file.
Here's an example of the search result in table format.
I formatted the downloaded CSV file in Excel.
Why does this matter?
Previously, it was difficult to export the table from Perplexity's Answer. The problem has been resolved, and tables can now be downloaded as CSV files for formatting and analysis.
When combined with the Pro Search feature, Perplexity is a formidable "search engine" capable of extracting multiple data sources into a customized table or CSV for market insight, data analysis, research, and a variety of other uses.
Three music genres at a time
In 2023, there were already over 6,000 music genres in the Spotify database, and the number continues to grow.
According to The Pudding, this image depicts the current state of music genre taxonomy.
Anyone new to music, including myself, will be intimidated by the over 6K different terms used to describe a type of music. Let alone the descriptive keywords required to be an expert in prompting generative music.
But fear not. Everything starts somewhere. What about starting with three popular music genres first?
In December 2024, Soundraw added three new music genres to its creation platform: (1) Reggaeton (2) Dancehall (3) Sexy Drill
Reggaeton is a music genre characterized by infectious beats, catchy hooks, and an undeniable energy that compels people to move. It is distinguished by its dembow rhythm, smooth bassline, and vocal-driven melodies. It combines Caribbean rhythms with hip-hop, dancehall, and electronic beats.
Ideal for club nights and dance floors, karaoke sessions, romantic moods, and creating a party atmosphere.
PS: I created the first album cover using Midjourney. Pretty cool right? :-P
Dancehall, which originated in Jamaica, combines reggae's signature rhythms with faster beats and more pronounced basslines. Its beats are bold and infectious, perfect for creating a summer anthem or adding Caribbean energy to your music.
Ideal for cultural expression, social interactions centered on dance, gatherings and celebrations, and music for outdoor venues and community events.
Sexy Drill features Drill music's heavy 808s, fast hi-hats, and gritty baselines, but with a smoother, more sensual layer of melodic vocals and slower, sultry tempos. This genre strikes an ideal balance between street culture and romantic expression, allowing artists to add a touch of allure or delve into the edgier side of seduction.
Ideal for smooth, atmospheric vibes, romantic or emotional expression, and modern club environments.
Why does it matter?
Background music is a crucial component in video production. It can greatly improve the viewer's experience by setting the tone and facilitating an emotional connection with the storyline.
Choosing a fitting music track for your video is a trial-and-error process, and understanding music terminology help to shorten the selection process.
Do you enjoy any of the three music genres? Let me know in the comments.

Save time by skipping to the good part
Educational YouTube videos are an excellent way to learn new information. However, some videos, even those that are short, can be made even shorter by eliminating unnecessary acting and getting right to the point.
Here's an example of an excellent learning video from the Nielsen Norman Group:
The video is 3 minutes and 12 seconds long (192 seconds total). But here's how I extracted the information and learned everything about the presentation in no more than 60 seconds.
Copy the URL for that YouTube video: link
Paste the link to https://youtubetranscript.com. (Ignore the ads. Itโs free to use)
Copy the transcript and summarize it with ChatGPT.
Why does it matter?
The above process reduces the learning time from 192 seconds to 60 seconds, saving approximately 70% of the time spent watching the video.
It may not seem like much for a short video clip. However, if you watch a lot of videos, even small time savings can add up.
Bonus: you can copy and paste the summary into your notebook for future reference, saving even more time on note-taking!
PS: Having said that, if the cat was talking, I will watch the entire 190s video!
Inspiration
Moss and Fog shared the beauty of the wild landscape, which was captured by French photographer Ilynx. It inspired me to create the following prompt:
