Midjourney just dropped their V1 video model, and it's available across all subscription tiers without any extra fees. Pretty sweet deal, especially considering what other video AI tools are charging these days.
The system offers two primary modes that control how much movement happens in your videos:
High motion mode - Creates videos with significant camera and character movement
Low motion mode - Generates more subtle movements and transitions
The video quality is genuinely impressive for what you're paying. At 480p resolution, it won't win any awards for sharpness, but the results outperform most competitors at this price point.
What's particularly interesting is how well the model handles hands and body coherence compared to Midjourney's current image generation. Characters maintain better anatomical consistency throughout the video sequences.
However, there are some constraints to keep in mind:
Video resolution caps at 480p currently
The video Upscaler is in the development
End frames feature and looping capabilities are planned

The V7.1 is still training and will incorporate learnings from this video model release. After that, expect V7.2 or potentially V8 with incremental improvements.
The company's longer-term vision across years:
Master image generation (already achieved)
Perfect video creation (current focus)
Move into real-time generation
Integrate 3D capabilities
They've also updated the "save for social media" buttons since users were posting videos that got heavily compressed on platforms. Smart fix for a real problem.
Niji have got their own video models now, so anime and manga-style videos are possible within the Niji ecosystem.
Midjourney's commitment to keeping this technology affordable and accessible is refreshing. While 480p might seem limiting now, they've mentioned plans for higher resolution upscaling, which should address the main quality concern most users have.
The video model represents their biggest release recently, surpassing even the updated style references and moodboard improvements that came before it.
Midjourney has set V7 as the default version.
The Style References (Sref) functionality has been enhanced. A new style version (--sv 6) is automatically assigned to the new Sref, even though it does not appear in the prompt on the website. For information about the updated Sref, read here.

I decided to put three popular AI tools to the test today: ChatGPT-4o, Midjourney V7, and Ideogram V3.0. The challenge? Creating a simple coffee mug mockup using a floral pattern.
ChatGPT delivered exactly what you'd expect: a clean, straightforward product mockup that adhered faithfully to the original pattern. No surprises, just solid results.

Midjourney took a more artistic approach, adding texture and visual flair to the surface. But it couldn't resist making its own creative choices, sneaking in white flowers that weren't part of the original design. Midjourney bot is obsessed with beauty, though.

Ideogram went completely off-script, covering the entire canvas with the pattern instead of keeping things minimal. Depending on your taste, this creates either an interesting artistic effect or a cluttered mess that distracts from the product itself.

For this particular test, ChatGPT-4o wins hands down. You could probably tweak the prompts for Midjourney and Ideogram to better align with the pattern. But when you need quick, reliable mockups with minimal fuss, ChatGPT-4o simply gets the job done without the drama.
Sometimes, boring efficiency beats artistic interpretation.
Inspiration
Chicken poster, anyone? Please don't ask me where I got this idea from. I don't remember. Just feel like it's cool to have one. No logic for this inspiration. By the way, the --q 4 parameter does help for creating complex illustrations.
