Midjourney Office Hours update: Style Explorer Experience coming in 1-2 weeks. Version 7.1 drops next month with some nice upgrades:
Better draft mode performance
Improved prompt understanding
Enhanced coherence
New O-Ref (Object Reference) capabilities
Higher performance mode options
Version 8 is about 20-30% done. Early tests look promising in certain areas. They're switching to completely different server types for V8 for faster performance.
Perplexity's new AI browser, Comet, had a major security flaw (now fixed) that Brave discovered last week. The AI assistant couldn't distinguish between legitimate content and hidden malicious prompts on web pages.
During testing, invisible text on Reddit tricked Comet into accessing users' Perplexity accounts, Gmail, and potentially bank accounts. The vulnerability highlights what happens when AI makes security decisions on our behalf: perhaps we shouldn't rush to adopt every new AI tool, especially those handling our login credentials and personal information.
Meta's chief AI officer announced they're teaming up with Midjourney for future creative AI models. No timeline yet, but this makes sense: we already share tons of Midjourney creations on social platforms. While both companies face copyright lawsuits (Disney and Universal are suing Midjourney for "bottomless pit of plagiarism"), this partnership could help smaller players compete against bigger AI companies. Meta's been spending billions to build its AI team, and this is their first major creative AI move.
It's just a standard licensing deal, not an acquisition or investment.
Meta's future visual products will get that signature Midjourney aesthetic, but they'll stay distinct products.
Your private creations stay private (they're not sharing with partners).
The money from this deal goes toward next-generation training.
Google Gemini's new "nano banana" model lets you edit images while keeping people and pets recognizable. You can preview room colors, drop yourself into different scenes, or see your future self. A cool feature, but let's be realistic: it won't replace Photoshop anytime soon. Plus, every Gemini-generated image has that annoying star watermark in the corner. Pass.
Ideogram is really excited about their Character feature for consistent character generation across images. They've got a tutorial showing how to create professional headshots. Check it out here:
Runway launched Game Worlds Beta for exploring AI-generated stories and characters. Sounds exciting, right? Well, don't expect actual gameplay. It's basically a card game with static images. Dozed off after 2 minutes. Try it yourself at https://play.runwayml.com/login if you're curious.
Kling 2.1 now offers Start and End frame features. Perfect for seamless scene transitions, blockbuster visual effects, product showcases, and complex camera movements. Watch it here.

The Midjourney Style Resources #16 has been updated to V7 aesthetics.
Inspiration
They say making one feature oversized can transform ordinary images into something extraordinary. I decided to test this with some animal paintings. The results were pretty interesting: sometimes the simplest tricks work best.
