News about AI art
Midjourney Office Hours (Sep 24th, 2025) delivered mixed news. V7.1 is being tested with guides and mods, but it’s essentially a stepping stone to V8, not a major release.
Expect better prompt accuracy and slightly improved performance, though David worries changes might feel “different but slightly better” (translation: users might complain).
Something more positive. The V8’s foundations are done with new architecture, codebase, and server cluster. They’re overhauling datasets for the first time in ages. Timeline looks like:
1 month for datasets
2 months for meaningful training results
The new Style Explorer feature is in development. You’ll be able to create styles through a “wordless process” (likely similar to a ranking process?), with daily community rankings refining the algorithms. Personalization upgrades are also coming, with faster setup and stronger profiles.
ChatGPT keyboard shortcuts that’ll save your sanity. Tom’s Guide dropped some gems, and the mother of all shortcuts is Ctrl + / (Command + / on Mac)—pulls up the entire shortcuts menu instantly.
Need a fresh chat?
Ctrl + Shift + O starts one immediately. No mouse, no sidebar clicking. Perfect when you’re using the GPT to write prompts and need a restart when the context is getting confusing.
Ctrl + K lets you search through your chats.
If you’re using ChatGPT daily, these shortcuts are godsent. No branching conversation shortcuts yet though.
Suno v5 dropped, and it’s ridiculously good. I thought 4.5+ was ultra awesome, but v5? Ultra+ultra awesome. The vocals sound genuinely human now, rather than the uncanny valley effect.
What’s new:
Clearest audio they’ve produced
Actually believable vocals
Way more creative control
Better genre understanding and mixing
Remaster old tracks with v5 variation control
Premier users will get Suno Studio soon. If you haven’t tried AI music generation yet, v5 will blow your mind. The vocal expressiveness alone makes it stand out compared to other AI music generators.
Google Veo brings museum paintings to life at Fukuda Art Museum. They’re using AI to animate static masterpieces. Imagine watching rain actually fall in a centuries-old painting.
Two modes make this work:
Animation mode: Curators identify implied movement (falling rain, passing travelers), Veo creates the motion
Photorealistic mode: Generates what the real scene might’ve looked like before the artist painted it
It’s creative storytelling meets art preservation. Instead of staring at a fixed frame, you experience the story continuing beyond the canvas edge. Pretty cool way to make art museums more immersive without destroying the originals.
Update from Geeky Curiosity
I genuinely appreciate Midjourney’s chill approach. While everyone else is racing to outdo each other at breakneck speed, David Holz asks, “What are the biggest problems in the world?” Not whether Nano Banana beats Midjourney or who’s “killing” whom - but whether hunger matters more than cancer.
That’s the conversation we should be having. We need more AI companies to think beyond feature wars and funding rounds for bigger computing power. How about actually helping solve real problems? The computing power race feels increasingly hollow when you consider what we could accomplish if we directed all this innovation toward things that truly matter.
Stay chill. Hope your week is fantastic. Thanks for sticking with Geeky Curiosity!

The Midjourney Style Resources #20 has been updated to V7 aesthetics.
Inspiration
Floating objects grab attention instantly. Maybe it's because we're waiting for them to fall, or maybe floating things just feel wrong somehow. Either way, that slight unease makes people look twice at your images.
