The missing guide to Midjourney parameters: Quick reference for V7
Your go-to cheat sheet for every parameter, organized by workflow
What are those parameter settings again?
I’ve generated more than 310K images with Midjourney. You’d think I’d have every parameter memorized by now.
Not even close.
I still find myself clicking through Midjourney Official Documentation, hunting for that one parameter detail I can’t quite remember. The information is spread across multiple pages, buried under images and examples. Takes forever.
So I built this guide. Everything in one place. All the parameters for Midjourney Version 7, organized by how I actually use them.
Why parameters matter
Sure, the web UI has buttons and sliders. But parameters are faster and more flexible, especially when you’re:
Running batch operations (generating dozens of images at once)
Fine-tuning specific controls quickly
Building complex prompts that need precision
Command-based features give you control. This guide gives you the values.
Important version note
Parameters work differently across Midjourney versions. What works in V7 might not work in V6.1. Vice versa.
This guide covers V7 specifically. When the next major version drops, I’ll create an updated version.
Parameter categories
I’ve grouped parameters by workflow, not by Midjourney’s official structure.
Here’s what makes sense when you’re actually creating:
Essential parameters - Use these all the time
Variations parameters - Explore different creative directions
Reference parameters - Replicate styles from existing images
Video parameters - For video generation
Processing speed parameters - Control generation speed
Social parameters - Publishing controls
I’ll provide summarized and detailed tables for your quick reference.
The tables also included hard-to-find information related to the parameters.
Let’s get straight to the details.
