Midjourney Office Hours (11th Dec 2024)
Patchwork, worldbuilding, storytelling, multiple personalization, and mood board
Dear readers,
Here is the summary of the latest Midjourney Office Hours:
Today's session began on time, with David excitedly inviting Max to introduce the community to Patchwork, a new storytelling tool.
Before the Patchwork demo, David stated that Midjourney will release the multiple personalization profile tomorrow, along with a Mood Board that allows users to dump a basket of images onto the board to generate a personalization code.
Following those releases, the next big thing will be the V7 model and/or the Big Batch 8 mode. But these will not be available by Christmas. Batch 8 is a web-only feature that enables users to train the model on the fly.
David is also considering partnering with another company for future audio visualization.
The worldbuilding feature, also known as Patchwork, was released immediately following Office Hours (making me nervous because I wanted to try out the new feature, but I also needed to finish writing this article for the readers).
You can see the frenzy situation on Patchwork a few seconds after the feature was released. Everyone was like, "Gooooooooo to play it now!"

More about Patchwork
You use Patchwork to create an image and a description of the character. This improves the system's ability to develop better characters in the future. You can also place characters in scenes and group them into factions.
In early 2025, there is a plan to set up the image sequence so that you can create a comic book for all sequences.
In the future, the items you have created in Patchwork will be linked to VR, 3D, and other technologies. You can even talk to the characters you created.
There will be a multiplayer option on the canvas.
Importing your image is now a bit more complicated. However, you can create a new note and paste your Cref URL to generate a mini image of the character.
The images you created for storytelling will be added to the web gallery.
By linking up similar images of a character, you help to refine the character in the system.
Patchwork is Niji-compatible.
In the future, you will be able to script the narrative scene and control how the characters talk and walk, much like in interactive storytelling.
You can use the Sref code within the canvas.
The style is currently locked in; it cannot be changed on a large scale. There is a plan to queue the slow generation in order to recreate the images in the new style, but this has not been confirmed.
You can create a portal in the world and link it to the reciprocal portal in the existing/old world. You can paste over things that you don't use in the existing world (extra scraps).
The system is currently unable to support multiple Crefs for multiple characters.
For now, the image and style weights are not supported.
There is no guarantee that the world you built now will be compatible in the future.
Dark mode might be available in the next few months.Â
