AI News
Midjourney has postponed this week's Office Hours. To keep this newsletter on schedule, I've decided to publish this issue first. Office Hours will be covered in the new feature release, if any.
Perplexity now allows users to upload and search audio and video files on its platform. It also includes new templates to assist with everyday tasks, such as idea generation and travel planning, among others.
Not sure how to write a prompt? No problem. Simply click on one of the templates and ask the bot to complete the task for you.
Anthropic released Claude 4, featuring numerous new enhancements. There are two models for coding: Claude Opus 4 (the most powerful) and Claude Sonnet 4 (the best balance of capability and practicality). Among the many other things mentioned in the announcement, one important and practical feature is the ability to connect to your everyday apps, such as Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.
Ideogram shared a 5-sentence prompt template to create a logo:
Pick the relevant keywords, then join all the sentences together as a prompt:
A {minimalist / modern / vintage / sleek / elegant / professional / playful / whimsical / dynamic} logo design for the brand "{Brand Name}", featuring a {stylized / abstract / illustrated / geometric / hand-drawn / delicate} {subjects}.
{describe the subjects in more details.}
The text "{Brand Name}" is written in a {clean / bold / elegant / playful} {serif / sans-serif / cursive / handwritten / geometric / pixelated} font, [with {optional color} outline,] [rendered in [lowercase / uppercase / small caps}, and] positioned {below / beside / integrated with} the logo[, with {optional tagline} in smaller text].
The background is {solid color / soft gradient / white / textured}, giving the logo a {clean / warm / bold / elegant / modern / handcrafted} look.
{Describe the vibe.}
For example: (I did not strictly follow the template)
A minimalist simple logo design for the brand "Happy Cat", featuring a stylized cat enjoys a gourmet dinner. The "Happy Cat" is written in a elegant cursive font, with black outline, rendered in small caps, and positioned integrated with the logo. The background is white giving a logo a clean look. Cute and modern. Japanese influence.
Here’re the sample results:
I'd say the results are ok. Not spectacular, though.
See what ChatGPT-4o created using the same prompt:

Prompt Play
Today, we're going to try making a simple cover image. Let's just say a vlog cover for a recent trip to Tokyo, Japan.
Here are our AI "contestants" lining up.
ChatGPT-4o
Venngage AI (the new "face" of this newsletter)
Midjourney V7
Ideogram 3.0
Runway Gen-4
We’ll see how well these AI models can generate images and text.
It's not a fair contest, and it never will be. Some models excel at one thing but struggle with others. But AI models evolve quickly, so...
ChatGPT-4o
Great results, easy to use.

Venngage AI Design Generator
I’m using their free model at https://venngage.com/ai-tools
Results look great. Also easy to use. But only generate 1 image at a time (similar to ChatGPT).

Canva AI
Canva fell short of this. The images aren't great, and the text is incorrect.

Midjourney V7
Midjourney has great graphics, but it lacks text generation capabilities.

Ideogram 3.0
Ideogram works as expected. However, some of the images struggle with coherence and human anatomy.

Runway
Runway, like Midjourney, struggles with text generation. The generated images are sometimes good and sometimes questionable.

So, at the very least, it can generate video, right?
Conclusion
ChatGPT-4o, Venngage AI, and Ideogram are the clear winners for generating a cover image with text.
For best visuals, though, consider using Midjourney images and adding on text using Ideogram or Venngage.
Inspiration
I'm looking for an artistic illustration of a cat playing with yarn. No particular reason, just being inspired by a cute image on the internet.
Here’re my Midjourney results.
